"Maniac not quite on the dance floor"

Films: Maniac (1980)

Alias: None

Type: Natural

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: You ever see someone and just instantly know that his life has completely spiraled downhill? Frank Zito is one of those people. And he'll kill you for noticing.

History: Frank Zito is pretty much every psychological issue in one unhinged package. Abused by his prostitute mom at a young age, years of it have turned him into a rambling mess who worships his long-dead tormentor. He doesn't really like to kill, but he's compelled to each and every time someone reminds him of mom. Sounds like another Ed Gein lookalike to us.

Notable Kills: The infamous death of Disco Boy. How many times do you see a man get blasted to holy Hell in the head by a shotgun at point-blank range? By a guy who carries it in a violin case, no less?

Final Fate: Eventually, Frank's terrifying hallucinations catch up to him, causing him to stab himself in the stomach in a fit of fear and rage. As the folks come to carry away his body, his eyes light up again, possibly for the final time.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional, himself.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Frank's antics are horrifically violent, but like most Ed Gein-inspired killers, he's pretty pathetic. In fact, he may be the most pathetic Gein guy we've seen. Timid and shaky to a fault, Frank goes through life trying desperately to keep his instinct in control, and failing miserably.

Trivia: -Famed critic Gene Siskel has walked out of only three movies in his whole career. This is one of them.

-At one point, the American death metal band Frightmare wrote a song all about this film. Fittingly, it's called "Frank Zito, The Maniac".
